Historic center

At few steps from Relais Sant'Eligio, a nice walk of a pair of minutes, lies the Ostuni's Historical Center. His ancient wall and the typical houses painted white, his narrow streets, the wonderful views of the marina, the old buildings, The Cathedral and the Churchs, the Museum of Civiltà Preclassiche, the Square with Saint Oronzo's Obelisk, the restaurants and clubs, made the 'White City' a touristic place that hosts every year thousands of travellers from all over the world. Cathedral

Built with gentle stone at the end of '400, with romanic-gothic style, the Cathedral lies at the top of Rione Terra, Ostuni's Historic Center. Declared national monument in 1902 and devoted to Santa Maria dell'Assunzione, it is dominated by the central rose window showing, along the perimeter, God Father with 12 lesser Prophets and the blessing Christ in the middle. The inner part has three naves with a latin cross plan, and it's enhanced by various baroque chapels, paintings, wooden altars with busts of the Ostuni's Saint Patrons Biagio, Oronzo, and Agostino. Museum of Civiltà Preclassiche

The Ostuni's civic Museum lies in historic center, along the way that leads to the majestic Cathedral. Set inside the San Vito Martire's church, decommissioned form cult and known also as Monacelle's church, hosts findings from all the southern Murgia dating back to prehistoric and Messapian age. Among those, impossible not to mention the findings of Ostuni1, a pregnant woman who lived about 28.000 years ago founded with his right arm on the belly, protecting the fetus. Considered the world's oldest mother, his incredible discover happened in 1991 in Santa Maria di Agnano's cave, few km from Ostuni, and since then arouses incredible emotion in all the visitors. Saint Oronzo's Parade

In the days of 25, 26 and 27 of August, Ostuni celebrates his Saint Patron and Protector Oronzo, who spared Ostuni from the pestilence that spread in 1657 in Southern Italy. Every year, during the patronal festival and witnessing the ancient devotion, a traditional and suggestive parade, the Cavalcata of Saint Oronzo, takes place. A group of horseman is dressed with robes of napoleonic age, a rite that passes down by generations. The Horseman escort the saint's statue starting from the Cathedral in historic centre and walk along the main streets of the town. Many tourists from all over the world come to see the Parade, and enjoy the traditional lightings, music shows and fireworks.If you are interested in Saint Oronzo's Parade, the Hotel Relais Sant'Eligio it's the ideal place to stay in Ostuni. Beaches

It takes just 6 km to reach the Ostuni's lidos from Hotel Relais Sant'Eligio, a drive of 10 minutes along the provincial road 21 Ostuni/Torre Pozzelle that will allow to avoid completely the town's traffic.

Ostuni's coast stretches for about 17 kilometers, between sandy beaches and cliffs with small bays, luxury and comfortable private lidos, large areas with free and uncontaminated beach ready to be discovered. A beautiful and wild stretch of coast. Lots of rocky cliffs with small beaches, where mediterranean scrub meets crystal clear water. Thera are also, in the surroundings, private lidos with umbrellas, restaurant, lounge bar and parking. It is easily reachable from Hotel Sant'Eligio in few minutes driving along the provincial road 21 Ostuni – Torre Pozzelle, that allows to reach Ostuni's seaside avoiding all the town traffic.

COSTA MERLATA

It takes his name from the ragged coast, between roky cliffs and sany beaches. Costa Melata allows to park the car and reach easily beaches with low and clear water, some with disability access. Ideal for families in serch of a free beach where enjoy sea in relax. At few distance from Torre Pozzelle, it is easily reachable from Hotel Sant'Eligio in few minutes driving along the provincial road 21 Ostuni – Torre Pozzelle, that allows to reach Ostuni's seaside avoiding all the town traffic.

PILONE

A stretch of sandy coast with dunes and mediterranean scrub, dominated by the watchers tower of Saint Leonardo, between Lido Morelli and Rosa Marina. Located inside the natural park of Dune Costiere, you will find large free beaches and various private lidos with bar, restaurant and car parking. Pilone is easily reachable from Hotel Sant'Eligio in 20 minutes driving along the provincial road 21 Ostuni – Torre Pozzelle, taking the state road 379 with Bari's direction and using the Pilone-Ostuni exit.
